The National First Ladies Library & Museum is proud to announce the opening of a groundbreaking new exhibit in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. “The Eras Exhibit: 250 Years of First Ladies Progress and Power” will debut on May 6, 2025, launching a two-year commemorative experience that redefines how we view the role of the First Lady in American history.

Through immersive design, rare artifacts, and a narrative that spans from the Revolutionary War to the present day, the exhibit offers a compelling exploration of how America’s First Ladies have influenced education, policy, culture, and national identity.

“This exhibit brings American history to life through the eyes of the women who lived it—our nation’s First Ladies,” said Patty Dowd Schmitz, President & CEO of the National First Ladies Library & Museum. “We are creating an immersive and dynamic experience that highlights the strength, intellect, and influence of our nation’s First Ladies across every era that defines our country’s story.”

Designed by Acclaimed Experiential Artist Giulietta Tripoli

The exhibit was designed by Giulietta Tripoli, an Ohio-based multidisciplinary artist and designer whose clients include Google, Netflix, Nike, and the Museum of Broadway. Known for her expertise in experiential and environmental design, Tripoli’s creative vision brings The Eras Exhibit to life through visually stunning environments that echo the immersive appeal of Taylor Swift’s celebrated “Eras Tour.”

“Her experience in national exhibit design is unparalleled,” said Dowd Schmitz. “She has taken our storytelling to a whole new level—visitors will walk away inspired and enlightened.”

Highlights from the Exhibit Include:

  • A mother-of-pearl inlaid calling card case that belonged to First Lady Louisa Adams

  • A pair of Mary Jane shoes worn by First Lady Florence Harding, displayed with her original pince-nez glasses and case

These personal items provide rare, intimate glimpses into the everyday lives of the First Ladies and reflect their influence across 250 years of American progress.
