Schedule a guided tour of the museum and/or the Saxton-McKinley House with a member of our curatorial staff, who will provide you and your grou with an experience you won't soon forget!
TOUR OPTIONS
SAXTON-MCKINLEY HOUSE PUBLIC TOUR (50 min.)
Join a guided tour of the historic Saxton-McKinley House, led by National Park Service Rangers. The childhood home of First Lady Ida Saxton McKinley and later, the Canton home of the McKinleys during President William McKinley’s time in office, the Saxton-McKinley house has been carefully and meticulously restored to its original 1800s Victorian grandeur to provide the utmost authenticity and the truest learning experience.
Guided museum tours are offered Tuesday-Saturday at 10:00am, 12:00pm, and 2:00pm.

Public tours are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours are conducted in groups of 10-15 people.

LEADERS IN LITERACY: FIRST LADIES AS TEACHERS, EDUCATORS, AND LIBRARIANS EXHIBIT GUIDED TOUR (1 hr.)
Schedule a guided tour of our 2024-2025 Leaders in Literacy: First Ladies as Teachers, Educators, and Librarians exhibit. Engage with the history of our nation’s First Ladies throughout their tenures as educators and the impact they have had across centuries of academic work. Tours are guided and annotated by a member of our curatorial staff.
Guided museum tours are scheduled with the Marketing & Development or Director of Education & Curatorial Services.

Guided museum tours must be reserved at least three weeks in advance and require a minimum of 8 people. Groups over 15 people may be split into rotations to accommodate for spacing and require approval from the Director of Education.

COMBO TOUR: LEADERS IN LITERACY LIMITED-TIME EXHIBIT PLUS SAXTON-MCKINLEY HOUSE GUIDED TOUR (2 hr.)
Get the full First Ladies experience and schedule a guided tour of our 2024-2025 Leaders in Literacy: First Ladies as Teachers, Educators, and Librarians exhibit, followed by a one-hour tour of the Saxton-McKinley House. CHARTER BUS TOURS
Travel in style to your museum field trip with our charter bus tours, which can comfortably accommodate up to 50 people. Charter bus reservations include designated parking.
Charter bus tours must be arranged and reserved at least three weeks in advance. Tour options may vary depending on the size of your group. Please inform us of any additional accommodations you may require at the time of scheduling your tour, and we will work to meet your needs to the best of our abilities.

GROUP MUSEUM TOUR POLICIES & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
POLICIES
A non-refundable deposit of $50 must be made at least two weeks prior to your scheduled tour and will be credited to your tour balance. Your balance must be paid at the start of your scheduled tour reservation time.
In the event that you need to cancel or reschedule your reserved tour time, notify the Director of Education as soon as possible. If your cancellation or rescheduling request is received at least 48 hours prior to your reserved tour time, you will be able to reschedule your tour.
If you are not able to arrive on time, contact the Director of Education as soon as possible. Tour guide availability is not guaranteed prior to the scheduled tour reservation time. Any groups not present and accounted for 15 minutes or longer past their scheduled tour reservation time will forfeit their tour reservation and fees.
Please silence all phones and electronics prior to your tour. Smoking, food, drinks, and flash photography are not permitted in exhibits or historical buildings. Non-flash photography is permitted for personal use. Any photography to be used for commercial use must be approved by CEO and Executive Director Patty Dowd Schmitz. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
We believe that the rich history of America’s First Ladies should be available and accessible to everyone. As such, both the First Ladies Library & Museum Visitor Center and the Saxton-McKinley House have been retrofitted with ramps and elevators to create an experience with all-inclusive wheelchair accessibility. If you have additional accessibility concerns or requests, inform the Director of Education upon making your reservation.
Wheelchair access for the Museum Visitor Center is located on the south side of the building. The Museum Visitor Center has public restrooms available on floors LL-2.
