The National First Ladies Library & Museum celebrated on Monday, May 5, 2025, with a VIP First Look Champagne Reception for the debut of its newest exhibition, The Eras Exhibit: 250 Years of First Ladies, Progress, and Power.

Guests from across the region—and even across the country—gathered at the historic site in downtown Canton to raise a glass to the women who have shaped American history. The exhibit, presented by Huntington Bank, explores the evolving role of First Ladies across American history in a way that’s as dynamic and groundbreaking as the women it honors.

Attendees enjoyed champagne toasts, curated light bites, and remarks honoring the legacy and influence of First Ladies throughout time. The evening’s energy matched the occasion—marking not only the launch of the highly anticipated exhibit, but also celebrating 25 years of the National First Ladies Historic Site preserving and elevating women's history.

“We were absolutely thrilled to welcome so many of our incredible supporters, partners, and friends to this very special evening,” said Patty Dowd Schmitz, President & CEO of the National First Ladies Library & Museum. “It was heartwarming to see our community come together to celebrate the stories of these remarkable women—and to know that Canton is a place where history lives and continues to inspire. We are so proud to bring The Eras Exhibit to our visitors from near and far.”

The Eras Exhibit invites guests to experience 250 years of transformation in the roles, responsibilities, and cultural influence of First Ladies—from Martha Washington to Dr. Jill Biden. With immersive displays, unique artifacts, and a pop-culture-infused presentation, the exhibit reimagines how history is told—celebrating First Ladies as changemakers, advocates, and icons.

The exhibit is now open to the public at the National First Ladies Historic Site in Canton, Ohio.
