A native of Chicago, Michelle Robinson graduated with a law degree from Harvard University. Her career spanned from city government to hospital administration. Michelle founded the Public Allies Chicago chapter in 1993, an Americorps program for diverse leadership development. As First Lady, she embraced her leadership with initiatives to empower young people. Michelle was inspired to reach young people through various health and education initiatives that included “Let’s Move,” “Reach Higher,” and “Let Girls Learn,” the latter of which ensured that young girls worldwide were afforded equal access to educational opportunities. In 2018, her best-selling memoir Becoming inspired millions of readers around the globe.
