A fervent advocate for educational opportunities for all ages, Jill Biden dedicated her career to teaching. She was the first First Lady to continue her full-time career as a president’s spouse. As Second Lady, she launched “Joining Forces” with First Lady Michelle Obama in 2011. During her time in the White House, Jill took over the leadership of the advancement that supported military and veteran families, caregivers, and survivors through health and well-being care, educational assistance, and employment opportunities. In 2023, she led the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research to improve how research was conducted on women and address health disparities and inequities.
